Marlin is CUMI’s high-performance AZ 40 Alumina-Zirconia abrasive, designed to meet the toughest grinding challenges with speed, strength, and endurance. Much like the marlin in the ocean, known for its agility and power, Marlin AZ 40 grits are engineered for aggressive material removal and long-lasting performance.

Produced through a controlled fusion process in an electric arc furnace, Marlin AZ 40 features a fine-grained eutectic microstructure composed of alternating lamellar bands of alumina and zirconia. These reinforcing lamellars enhance the grain’s mechanical strength, delivering exceptional toughness, resistance to grain fracture, and a self-sharpening action during use.

This advanced structure ensures superior performance in both bonded and coated abrasives, especially in heavy-duty grinding, weld removal, cut-off operations, and high-pressure metal sanding.
